Running management or leadership development this year?
We will run your needs analysis. Done properly, done for you, for free.
Most development programmes fail before the first workshop. The quality of your needs analysis decides whether yours is one of them.
No obligation
Let's discuss running your diagnostics
A conversation about building and running a bespoke diagnostic for your management and leadership development. Free of charge.
We run the full pre-programme discovery phase for you: proprietary diagnostic tools and data analysis built around your organisation, not a generic survey.
- Pinpoint exactly where development will have the biggest impact
- Meet your managers where they actually are and solve the real problems on their plates
- Report real business results the board will recognise
Free of charge, with no obligation to work with us afterwards. See the diagnostic tools
Diagnostics run for
Why most programmes fail
There are two ways development programmes get built today. Both end in the same place.
The guess
L&D picks the topics
The programme is built on what feels right. Topics are guessed, so managers do not resonate with them, and the training gets labelled irrelevant: content in search of a problem, solving nothing that is actually on anyone's plate.
The menu
Managers get surveyed
Back comes a menu of everything anyone wants, watered down until it is safe. Weeks of admin and analysis later, you hold a long list of topics, not a picture of where impact is needed. Safe, because people asked for it. Still not solving the real business problems.
Both roads end in a topic-led programme instead of a problem-led one, measured on attendance and engagement because it cannot be measured on results. That bill is paid by L&D, in time and in credibility.
None of this is an L&D failing. It is what happens when the decision has no diagnostic data underneath it.
The third way
Diagnose first. Then develop.
Our diagnostics are done for you and return real data to ground every decision in, the kind a board takes seriously. They surface the problems actually sitting on your managers' plates, including the ones your managers cannot yet name, and they set the baseline that lets you demonstrate data-led impact when the development lands. Two instruments do most of the work.
Diagnose capability
Manager Strength Index
What can our managers do today, and where are the gaps?
What it measures
A situational judgement test scored against a competency framework and benchmarked across your cohort. Run it on an industry variant, on your own framework, or built bespoke. Add a 360 and it also returns the Manager Approval Score: how each manager is experienced above, beside and below them.
Key outputs
- Cohort strength-and-gap map across every behaviour
- Per-manager scorecard with a development focus
- Manager Approval Score (when a 360 is added)
- A baseline to re-measure against at close
Diagnose leadership
Leadership Experience Diagnostic
How are our managers actually experienced by the people around them?
What it measures
A deep-dive audit of how a leader is actually experienced by the people they lead, measured against your own values and expected behaviours. It is an audit built around your leadership expectations, not a 360 and not a generic model, and it surfaces the gap between how a leader thinks they lead and how it lands.
Key outputs
- How consistently each leader shows up, by your values and leadership domains
- A frequency view: Rarely, Sometimes, Often, Consistently
- Themed, anonymised qualitative comments behind the scores
- A re-measurable baseline of leadership experience
The diagnostic rises with the stakes. You do not need to work out which one you need. That is what the call is for.
What you get
The full discovery phase, and what it is worth.
This is not a taster. It is the same discovery phase every paid Performance Partnership opens with, priced here at what it costs as consultancy.
Diagnostic design consultancy
We scope the ground with you and design the diagnostic around your framework, your values and what the business needs to move.
£2,000
Custom-built diagnostics
Your MSI or LXD, built for your organisation. Industry variant, powered by your own framework, or bespoke from the ground up.
£3,000
Administration and launch
We run the whole deployment to your management population and chase it to completion. Zero admin lands on your desk.
£1,000
Data analysis and report building
Cohort strength-and-gap map, Manager Approval Score, per-manager scorecards. Board-ready, not a data dump.
£3,000
Data-led programme design
A development programme designed on the evidence, supported by the data. Yours to run with us, with someone else, or in-house.
£3,000
Total value
£12,000
Yours free.
No invoice, no obligation to run the development with us. We cap this at eight organisations a month.
Diagnostics in the field
Where the diagnostic made the programme.
Industry MSI, hospitality
“10X embedded a Performance Partner in the business, measured every one of them against a Manager Strength Index built for hospitality, and then worked on the real problems on their plates, shift by shift, rather than in a classroom that has never seen a Saturday service.”

Ashleigh Fenwick
Head of Learning and Talent, The Inn Collection
MSI powered by their own framework
“The development programme scored amongst the highest of any initiative being run in our most recent People Engagement Survey.”

Lisa Richardson
Director of Organisational Improvement, Oxford Innovation
How it works
From scoping call to readout.
Scoping call
A 30 minute conversation. We agree which diagnostic fits your managers and what it should surface. No pitch attached.
We deploy, you watch
About 20 minutes per manager inside LeadersLab. We run the whole thing and return the results within two weeks.
Readout
A Performance Partner walks your cohort picture with you: the strengths, the gaps, and what we would do about them.
The whole ask of you
- One 30 minute scoping call
- About 20 minutes per manager
- One readout session
Everything else, we run. That is what done for you means.
The questions people actually ask.
We already survey our managers.
A survey tells you what people want. A diagnostic shows what the organisation needs, including the problems your managers cannot yet name. And it arrives analysed and board-ready, instead of costing your team weeks of admin.
Is it off the shelf?
No. The diagnostic is built around your organisation: an industry variant, powered by your own competency framework, or designed bespoke from the ground up. That is what makes the picture worth acting on.
What does it ask of our managers?
About 20 minutes each, completed inside LeadersLab. Nothing to prepare, no homework, no disruption to the day. We administer everything.
Who sees the data?
You do. The cohort picture is yours to keep. Individual results are handled confidentially and shared with each manager, not paraded to the business.
What is the catch?
There is not one. Discovery is where every partnership starts, so we start there with you, and we cap it at eight organisations a month because every diagnostic is run and read by a Performance Partner. If the picture says you do not need us, we will tell you.
What happens after the readout?
The picture and the programme design are yours. Run the development with us, with another provider, or in-house. There is no obligation, and the diagnostic keeps its value either way: it is the baseline you will measure any programme against.
A question we have not answered? .
When to start
Real discovery needs real time. Count backwards from your launch.
Most organisations decide on development in the month they want it to start. That is exactly why discovery gets skipped and programmes get generic. Best in class looks like this:
Month 1
Diagnostics
The MSI or LXD runs across your management population. About 20 minutes per manager.
Month 2
Analysis and design
We build the cohort picture and design the programme on the evidence.
Month 3
Launch and engagement
Managers are briefed, engaged and enrolled. The programme lands warm, not cold.
Month 4
Programme begins
Development starts aimed at the right problems, with a baseline already in place to prove impact against.
The runway can be condensed. What it cannot be is skipped. If development is running this year, the diagnostic needs to run now.
Eight per month
We run eight of these each month. That is the honest limit.
Every diagnostic is run and read by a Performance Partner, so capacity is real, not a marketing device. Book the call and we will agree which instrument fits your managers, and what it should surface. If the picture says you do not need us, we will tell you. The discovery is the work.
